415 – Special Education Student Exiting With School Enrollment Record “Completer: Diploma” Needs Valid Special Education Exit Record

Article Contents

ERROR DESCRIPTION

Special Education Student has exited with a School Enrollment Record of 210 “Completer: Graduated with a Regular or Advanced Diploma” code. A Special Education Record will need to be reported for this student with a Reason Exited of SPED03 “Graduated With A Regular High School Diploma.”

DETAILS

The student enrollment record for the student states the reason for exit is “210” (Completer: Graduated with a Regular or Advanced Diploma), however the Special Education record does not have a matching Reason Exited. If the student is exiting from the district, there are very specific student enrollment Exit Withdrawal Type codes to coordinate with the Special Education Reason Exited codes.

Note: The student enrollment Exit Withdrawal Type and Special Education Reason Exited codes chart can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements guide for the appropriate school year in the ADVISER Resource website.

FIX

If the student has received a high school diploma identical to that which students without disabilities are eligible for, update the Reason Exited on the Special Education record to “SPED03” (Graduated with a Regular High School Diploma) in the SIS or SRS and submit the information to ADVISER.

If the student has received a Certificate of Attendance, update the Exit Withdraw Type on the enrollment record to “212” (Completer with No Diploma) in the SIS and submit the updated information to ADVISER.

If the student is still attending school and receiving Special Education services, remove the Exit Withdraw Type from the student’s enrollment record in the SIS and submit the updated information to ADVISER.
