This FAQ provides answers to the most common questions users have when accessing or logging into the New NDE Portal, including SSO issues, alternative sign‑in options, EdOrg errors, and district‑selection problem.
Login Methods
1. How do I sign in to the New NDE Portal?
Go to the New NDE Portal page and click the big blue “Click Here” button. Then select your District/System from the dropdown list. You will complete your school’s SSO process on the following screens to log into the your New NDE Portal account.
2. What if my District/System is not listed?
Click the alternative sign‑in link found in:
“If your District/System is not listed when you click the button above, click here.”
This opens additional login methods.
3. What alternative sign‑in options are available?
If your district isn’t listed, you can use:
- Google login
- Microsoft login
- Local email + password account
These options appear after selecting the “click here” alternative login link.
4. What is the difference between SSO and email/password login?
- SSO (Single Sign-On) uses your school‑managed district credentials.
- Email/password login is a standalone local account created directly in the New NDE Portal.
Local accounts are uncommon and typically used only if SSO is not supported.
Account & Profile Issues
1. Why can’t I edit my name or email in the New NDE Portal?
If you signed in using SSO, Google, or Microsoft, your name and email are controlled by your login provider and cannot be edited in the New NDE Portal.
If you created a local New NDE Portal account (email/password), you can edit your information under:
➡ Profile > Information
2. Why am I getting an error after signing in for the first time?
If your EdOrg (district/system) is not assigned, the New NDE Portal will show a yellow error box, especially for nonpublic and non‑SSO users.
You must submit a request to have your EdOrg added before you can proceed.
3. What do I do if my email domain changed when I moved districts?
You will create a new account using your new email address with your new district.
EdOrg (District/System) Issues
1. What is an EdOrg?
An EdOrg (Education Organization) is the District/System associated with your New NDE Portal account. It appears in the upper‑right corner after successful login and association.
2. Why isn’t my EdOrg showing?
Your EdOrg may not appear if:
- You used an alternative login (Google/Microsoft/email)
- You are nonpublic staff
- SSO did not provide your district information
In these cases, go to:
➡ Profile > Requests and submit a request for your EdOrg.
3. Why does the New NDE Portal show an EdOrg error even though I logged in successfully?
This happens because SSO does not always provide EdOrg data. Common for:
- Nonpublic users
- Non‑SSO login methods
Submitting an EdOrg request resolves the issue.
Common Sign-In Problems
1. Why can’t I log in even though my credentials work elsewhere?
Possible reasons:
- Your district is not onboarded for the NebraskaCloud SSO system
- Your account has not fully synced through your district’s authentication system
2. What do I do if I get stuck in a login loop?
- Clear your cache or browsing history in your browser.
- If option #1 does not work, try using the alternative login link, especially if your district doesn’t appear or SSO isn’t behaving as expected.
3. What if I forgot my password?
This option applies only to local accounts (email/password).
Click “Forgot password?” on the login screen
If you use SSO, password resets must be done through your district.
SSO-Specific Issues
1. Why does the New NDE Portal not recognize my district after SSO login?
This occurs when identity information from your district is incomplete. Your district’s IT must correct your identity attributes.
2. Why do Google/Microsoft SSO users need to request an EdOrg?
Google and Microsoft login methods cannot supply district identifiers to the New NDE Portal. You must manually request your EdOrg.
