ERROR DESCRIPTION
Beginning in 2018-2019, only students who were Learning Community Open Enrollment in 2016-2017, Open Enrollment Option Student in 2017-2018, and at the same school for both years, may be reported as Open Enrollment Option Student moving forward. Students that were Learning Community Open Enrollment in 2016-2017 but changed school buildings in in a subsequent school year must complete an enrollment option application and follow those procedures and, if approved, should be coded as 06 Optioning in from another Nebraska School District by the option in school district. If the student changed schools and is now attending a school in their resident school, that student should be reported with a Residency Status of 00 Not Applicable.
DETAILS
Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, only students who:
- Were reported as Learning Community Open Enrollment in 2016-2017,
- Were reported as Open Enrollment Option Students in 2017-2018, and
- Remained at the same school building for both years
may continue to be reported as “08” (Open Enrollment Option Student).
Students who were Learning Community Open Enrollment in 2016-2017 but changed school buildings in a later year must complete an Enrollment Option application. If the application is approved, the receiving district should report the student with Residency Status “06” (Optioning in from another Nebraska school district).
If the student later attends a school in their resident district, the student should be reported with Residency Status “00” (Not Applicable).
Beginning in 2017-2018, no new open enrollment option student should be reported with an “08” (Open Enrollment Option Student).

FIX
Verify whether the student previously qualified as an Open Enrollment Option Student. Only students who were Learning Community Open Enrollment in 2016-2017, Open Enrollment Option in 2017-2018, and remained at the same school building may continue to be reported this way.
If the student does not meet these conditions:
- Report Residency Status “06” (Optioning in if the student has an approved option enrollment) or
- Report Residency Status “00” (Not Applicable if the student attends their resident district).
in the SIS and submit the updated information to ADVISER.
