ERROR DESCRIPTION

Special Education Student has exited with a School Enrollment record with a 205 “Not Enrolled, Eligible to Return” code. A Special Education record will need to be reported for this student with an Reason Exited of (Part B) SPED07– Dropped Out OR (Part C) SPED09 – Withdrawn by Parent, SPED17 – Attempts to contact parents unsuccessful or SPED12-14 (Part C). Possible corrective actions: 1) Report a Special Education Record with valid exit code; 2) Report a valid School Enrollment record for the situation.

DETAILS

The student’s enrollment record indicates the reason for exit as “205” (Not Enrolled, Eligible to Return), but the Special Education record lacks a corresponding Reason Exited. When a student exits the district, the enrollment Exit Withdrawal Type codes must align with the appropriate Special Education Reason Exited codes.

Note: The student enrollment Exit Withdrawal Type and Special Education Reason Exited codes chart can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements guide for the appropriate school year in the ADVISER Resource website

FIX

If the student was receiving Special Education services under IDEA Part B, update the Special Education Reason Exited code to “SPED07” (Dropped Out) in the SIS or SRS and submit it to ADVISER.

If the student was receiving Special Education services under IDEA Part C, update the Special Education Reason Exit code to one of the following options in the SIS or SRS and submit it to ADVISER:

  • “SPED09” (Withdrawn by parent)
  • “SPED12” (Completion of the IFSP prior to the age of 3 years old)
  • “SPED13” (Exit to other program)
  • “SPED14” (Exit with no referral)
  • “SPED17” (Attempts to contact parents unsuccessful)
