NDE Portal

What is the NDE Portal?

The NDE Portal is a secure platform that allows school users to access essential data collection tools, specialized applications, and reports that are not publicly available. It supports required submissions and enables schools to manage access to student/staff data systems while maintaining privacy and security

Why Are There Two Portal Versions?

NDE is transitioning from the Legacy Portal to the modernized New Portal, but both systems currently operate in parallel:

New Portal

  • Modernized platform with Single Sign‑On (SSO) for most public districts and ESUs
  • Eliminates the need for Activation Codes.
  • Allows users to request or be assigned access directly.
  • Accessible at: https://portal.education.ne.gov/

Legacy Portal

  • Existing portal that requires users to create their own accounts.
  • District Administrators must issue Activation Codes to grant access to specific applications.
  • Still used while collections transition to the new system
  • Accessible at: https://portal.education.ne.gov/
