ERROR DESCRIPTION
A student in grades PK – 02 was reported with an out-of-school suspension or expulsion. Please be aware that per state statute 79-265.01 the only reason that a student in these grades should receive this discipline action is if the discipline incident involves a deadly weapon.
DETAILS
The error indicates that the student is being reported with an Out of School Suspension or Expulsion in the Discipline Action section, which is not permitted under Nebraska state statute.
Nebraska Legislature 79-265.01 states that “an elementary school shall not suspend a student in pre-kindergarten through second grade.” The only exception to this statute is if the student brings a deadly weapon to school.

FIX
If the student is in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade and the incident does not meet the exception outlined in Nebraska state statute, update the “Discipline” code in the discipline record in the SIS and submit ADVISER.
If the student is in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade and meets the exception outlined in Nebraska state statute, the district must verify that the information is reported correctly in ADVISER and then archive the ADVISER error.
