470 – Special Education Setting Code Invalid for Ages 6-21 Part B

Article Contents

ERROR DESCRIPTION

Student is age 6 to 21 and should have a Setting Code valid for a student who is “ages six to twenty-one (Part B).” The student’s age is figured as of their SPED exit date (if available), or as of the last day of school (if the student is not confirmed to be receiving services during the summer), or otherwise as of today’s date.

DETAILS

The student’s Special Education Setting code is not appropriate for a student receiving IDEA Part B services. If the student is receiving Special Education services, specific Special Education Setting codes must be used to correspond with the appropriate Special Education programs (IDEA Part C & Part B).

Note: The Special Education Setting codes can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements guide for the appropriate school year in the ADVISER Resource website

FIX

If the student is receiving Special Education services under IDEA Part B, update the Special Education Setting code to the appropriate code in the SIS or SRS and submit it to ADVISER.

If the student is receiving Special Education services under IDEA Part C, update the Special Education Program code to the appropriate code in the SIS or SRS and submit it to ADVISER.

If the student is no longer receiving Special Education services, the Special Education record must include an End Date and Reason Exited, along with the appropriate codes for the Special Education Setting in the SIS or SRS, and then submitted to ADVISER.
