ERROR DESCRIPTION
A student reported in a Special Purpose School needs to have their public home district listed as the Resident District, unless they have a Residency Status of 03 (Contracted in from another state).
DETAILS
Students enrolled in a Special Purpose School must have their resident district reported as their School of Residence. The School of Residence should not be the Special Purpose School’s district.
This validation ensures that the student remains associated with their resident school district for reporting purposes while attending a Special Purpose School.
An exception exists for students with a Residency Status of “03” (Contracted in from another state). In these cases, the contracted in district is reported as the School of Residence.
Note: The definitions of Residency Status can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements for the appropriate school year on the ADVISER Resource website. For additional guidance regarding Special Purpose Schools, refer to the Systems Involved Student Reporting guide available on the ADVISER Resource website.
FIX
If the student is attending a Special Purpose school, update the School of Residence to the resident district school district code in the SIS and submit the updated data to ADVISER.
If the student is contracted in from out of state, update the School of Residence to the contracted in school district code in the SIS and submit the updated data to ADVISER.
