724 – Absence Duration is Greater Than 1.0

Article Contents

ERROR DESCRIPTION

Attendance event duration is reported as greater than 1.0 (a full day) on a single date in an Attendance record.

DETAILS

The Event Duration reported in a student’s attendance record is greater than 1.0 for a single date. Event Duration represents the portion of the regular school day, reported up to two decimal places, that applies to the attendance event. For example, if a student was absent for 2 out of 8 school periods, the Event Duration would be reported as 0.25.

Event Duration should not exceed 1.0 (one full instructional day) for a student on a single date. Late start and early dismissal days may count as a partial or full day according to district policy.

Note: Calendar and attendance definitions, along with examples, can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements guide for the appropriate school year in the ADVISER Resources website.

FIX

If the duration was entered incorrectly, update the attendance record so that the total absence for the date does not exceed 1.0 in the SIS and submit to ADVISER.

If multiple attendance events were reported for the same date, adjust or combine records as appropriate to ensure the total does not exceed 1.0 in the SIS and submit to ADVISER.
