In the New NDE Portal:
- Users request the access they need
- Access is granted through Roles (groups of one or more applications)
- District Administrators (or Proxy Admins) approve requests
- New applications are automatically added to certain roles by NDE
Unlike the Legacy NDE Portal, no activation codes are used.
Before You Start
You must be able to sign in to the New NDE Portal using:
- District SSO (NebraskaCloud)
- Microsoft

5. Understanding Roles
The New NDE Portal uses Roles to control access. Roles may:
- Contain one application
- Contain multiple applications
- Automatically update as NDE adds new applications to the system
Example:
When ADVISER Validation moves into the New NDE Portal, users with the Data Steward role will automatically receive access.
For help determining which Role you need, contact your District Administrator or Proxy Admin.
You can view them under: Contacts > My District Admin in your account
6. Common Issues & How to Fix Them
EdOrg Missing or Incorrect
- New NDE Portal may not know your district (common for nonpublic schools).
- You must request your EdOrg during the request process.
No Roles Displaying
- Ensure your EdOrg is correctly selected.
- Try adding an Application filter to narrow down roles.
Applications Missing After Approval
- Roles often include multiple applications—check your Applications section on the Profile page.
- Some applications may still be in the process of migrating from the Legacy NDE Portal.
- See “Which Portal do I use?” spreadsheet for details on the NDE Portal website.
