571 – Student’s Resident District Is Different From Reporting District, but Residency Status Is “Not Applicable”

Article Contents

ERROR DESCRIPTION

If the resident district is different from the district where the student is enrolled, then a Residency Status must be listed. Does not apply to PK students, or Special Education students with a Placement Type of 3 “Nonpublic Placement – Parent Placement SPED Services from Resident District Student on IEP” or 4 “Nonpublic Placement – Parental Placement, Special Education Services, Student on Equitable Services Plan.””

DETAILS

The School of Residence and Reporting School belong to different districts. A Residency Status must be reported for students in grades Kindergarten through 12, unless the student is placed in a nonpublic school and receives Special Education services through an IEP or Equitable Service Plan.

Note: The definitions of Residency Status can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements for the appropriate school year on the ADVISER Resource website.

FIX

If the student is a resident of the district, update the “School of Residence” or “Reporting School” in the enrollment record in the SIS and submit the updated information to ADVISER.

If the student is not a resident of the district, update the “Residency Status” in the enrollment record based on the student’s situation in the SIS and submit the information to ADVISER.

If the student is attending a Nonpublic school and receiving Special Education services, update the Special Education program record with “3” (Nonpublic Placement – Parent Placement SPED Services from Resident District Student on IEP) or “4” (Nonpublic Placement – Parent Placement SPED Services Student on Equitable Service Plan) in the SIS or SRS, and submit the information to ADVISER.
