823 – Residency Status Code “10” Reported for a Full Time FTE Student

Article Contents

ERROR DESCRIPTION

A student enrollment record was reported with a Residency Status code of 10 “Part-Time Students Enrolled Outside of Resident District for Extracurricular Activities”, but the FTE reported for the student is 100%. Either correct the FTE amount in the enrollment record or correct the Residency Status code.

DETAILS

The definition of Residency Status code “10” — Part-Time Students Enrolled Outside of Resident District for Extracurricular Activities — applies to students who are primarily enrolled in a nonpublic or exempt school and who attend a public school district part-time for extracurricular activities. Per statute, these students may attend outside of their resident district without optioning or contracting. Additional guidance regarding the updated 79-215(11) statute is available on the ADVISER Resources website under the “Reference Guides” section, within “LB306 Enrollment.”

To report a student with Residency Status “10,” the student must be primarily enrolled in a nonpublic or exempt school and attending a public district outside of their resident district specifically for extracurricular activities.

Note: Residency Status definitions can be found in the ADVISER Data Elements guide for the appropriate school year in the ADVISER Resources website. Systems Involved Student Reporting guidance can also be found at this site and may be of assistance.

FIX

If the student is a resident of the district and full time, update the Residency Status code to the appropriate value in the SIS and submit the updated information to ADVISER.

If the student is not a resident of the district and is primarily attending a nonpublic or exempt school, update the Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) in the SIS to reflect the appropriate amount of time the student attends the district (less than 50 percent). Submit the updated information to ADVISER.
